Baby massage has many benefits:
- It aids digestion, relieves colic and trapped wind
- Soothes and comforts, promotes relaxation and helps to reduce anxiety
- It helps to induce restful sleep
- Stimulates and strengthens baby’s immune system
- Deepens and strengthens the bond between baby and caregiver through the release of oxytocin, also known as the ‘Love Hormone’
- Encourages muscle co-ordination and joint flexibility
- Stimulates the nervous system and enhances healthy brain development
- Relieves teething pain
- Helps to increase confidence and self-esteem in parents
- Encourages the release of prolactin in breast-feeding mothers which aids milk supply
Our baby massage course offers much more that just the practical strokes of how to massage your baby. Each weekly session covers the massage strokes as well as time for a chat with a hot drink and homemade cake. This time is for Mums and Dads to share ideas and experiences (if they choose to) and ask questions to the group and the instructor.
The usual things that parents want to talk about are: sleeping, feeding, feelings and emotions, demands of becoming a parent, crying and not being able to put their baby down and many more
Classes are baby-led, meaning that we take our cues from the infants and adapt according to their needs.
We had a wonderful time at ‘Daddy and Me while Mummy has tea’. Thank you for creating such a special haven. It was lovely to meet the other mummies and daddies too (and babies of course!). The perfect Father’s Day treat! Thank you.
